Delete your account

You can delete your Teacher’s Bet account yourself. It is a control in the account menu, on the site and in the app, and it does the deleting on the spot. Nobody has to approve it and you do not have to email anyone. This page says what goes, what it does not reach, and what to do if you cannot sign in.

How to delete it

1. Sign in, if you are not already.
2. Open the account menu. It is the button with your email address on it, at the top of any page.
3. Scroll to the bottom of that menu. Delete your account is the last thing in it.
4. Read the confirmation. It lists what is about to go.
5. Choose Yes, delete my account.

That is the whole thing. The account is deleted when you tap it, not queued for someone to review later, and there is no email asking you to confirm what you just confirmed. The menu goes back to saying “Sign in”, because there is no longer an account to be signed in to.

It is the same control in the same place if you installed the site to your Home Screen, and it will be the same control in the same place in the iPhone and Android apps when they arrive. Both stores require an app that lets you make an account to let you delete it from inside the app, and we agree with them.

Exactly what goes

All of it goes in that one request:

• The account row: your email address, your tier, and the link to your payment record if you ever had one.
• Your Report Card: every price you logged, every stake and bankroll you typed, and every grade the card worked out. This is the most personal thing the site holds and it is the main thing this deletes. Export it first if you want to keep it: the card writes the whole archive as CSV or JSON in one click.
• Your saved starting bankroll.
• Your Learn rank: the list of course modules you have passed.
• Your attendance record: the days you opened the site, and the streak worked out from them.
• Your alerts: the browser or device registration that alerts were sent to, and the threshold you set.
• Your Discord link, if you connected one. The bot stops matching your role to your rank.
• The note of how the account first arrived: the one label saying which site linked you here.
• Every session, so every device you are signed in on is signed out at once.
• Any sign-in code still outstanding for your address, and your entry on the pre-launch list if you left one under the same address. That list came before accounts existed, so it is a separate row, and leaving it behind would mean someone who asked to be deleted was still on a mailing list.

It runs as one batch, so it either all happens or none of it does. A half-deleted account is worse than a refused one.

On the device you delete from, the browser copies go too: the queued Report Card entries, the saved bankroll, the course progress, the attendance cache, the alert setting and the entitlement token. Settings for the browser itself stay, because they are not a record of you: the age confirmation, the timezone, the view mode and whether the one-time tour has run. Clearing site data removes those as well.

What deleting does not reach

• Payment records. Stripe keeps its own record of any payment you made, under its own policy and the tax rules it has to follow. Deleting your account here does not reach into that, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
• Market prices. The site stores venue prices with timestamps, which is what the fair line and the grades are built from. No user is attached to any of it and none can be, so there is nothing of yours in there to delete.
• Diagnostic log lines. The server writes short lines about whether a sign-in worked. They hold no email address and no token, so they hold nothing that points at you.
• Email you sent us. If you wrote to support, that message is still in the inbox. Ask and it is deleted.

If you have a subscription

A live Extra Credit subscription has to be cancelled first, and the site will say so rather than deleting an account Stripe is still billing. Cancel it with Manage subscription, which sits in the same account menu a little above the delete control. It is one click and there is no retention screen.

Then there is a wait, and it is worth knowing about before you start. Cancelling stops the next charge, and your access runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. Until that period ends the account is still a paid one, so this page and the delete control will keep refusing. If you want the account gone sooner than that, email support@escapementtech.com from the address on the account and we will do it by hand.

An NFL season pass is different. It is a single payment that never renews, so there is nothing to cancel and you can delete the account while the pass is still running.

Deleting does not refund anything. Charges are not refunded and there is no partial refund for the rest of a period. The terms say the same.

If you cannot sign in

Email support@escapementtech.com from the address on the account and say you want it deleted. That is the whole message; there is no form. We do it by hand. Use the same address if you left an email on the pre-launch list and never made an account with it.

It has to come from the address on the account, because that address is the only thing the site knows about you. A request from a different address is one we cannot match to an account, so we will write back and ask you to send it from the right one. The request is honoured wherever you live and no legal-regime test is applied first. Expected response times are on the contact page.
